Catch Me at the Type A Mom Conference

by Deb Ng on September 8, 2010

I’m so stoked to tell you that I’ve been invited to sit in on the Keynote Panel at the Type A Mom Conference in Asheville, NC from September 24th through September 26th.

The panel is called, “It’s All About Respect: Professionalism in Blogging” and includes me, the Type A Mom herself, Kelby Carr, David Griner and Heather Solos will be moderating.

I was asked to speak at Type A Mom after my series of posts here regarding my experiences at BlogHer and I look forward to participating in a discussion as to how bloggers, especially mom bloggers, can be seen as professionals and not hobbyists or only in it for free stuff.

This is my first time at Type A Mom. To be honest, one of the reasons I didn’t attend in the past is because I wasn’t sure of what to expect. I’m not a Mom blogger and don’t really want to be seen as a mom blogger, but I am a mom who blogs. Kelby’s conference isn’t a mom blogger joint, though. As the name indicates, Type A Mom is for bloggers who want to be seen as professionals and business people and I’m totally down with that. I’m especially stoked because a track was added for Type A Dads this year, and I’m all about the balance.

I hope to see you in Asheville in two weeks! Will you be there?

I am so glad to have you coming and on the keynote panel! And yeah, I don’t tend to think of my conference as something just for moms (or dads) who blog about parenting. That is such a small segment of the amazing people who blog and happen to have children… who blog on things like tech, politics, business, etc. I am sure you’ll have a blast!

Wow, Deb! I look forward to reading all about it. Each time I read about these conferences I truly wish I was in the US, but maybe someday I’ll be able to be a part of them:-)
All the best and do keep us posted about everything that happens there. I know of at least one “mom blogger” who’s a real pro at her work who was as one of the speakers at Type A Mom last year, so yeah, it is for pro bloggers and not just mom or dad bloggers.

Deb, I loved your BlogHer posts. While I have recently mentioned my kids to prove a point (I was getting some whining that I don’t cook kid friendly recipes. . . whatever). Mostly though, while they are a huge part of me, they aren’t a big part of my online endeavors, except for random funny crap on Twitter.
