AideRSS Community Manager

in Interview, Media, Video

Joseph Thornley, a good friend of mine, interviewed Melanie Baker of AideRSS, now called PostRank, back in August. It is a great example of why companies need a Community Manager, as well as why Joseph Thornley is a great interviewer.

Key take home points:

  • Traffic doesn’t mean community
  • Community can evangelize for you if created right
  • Find the value in multiple communication channels
  • Be flexible on where you talk to people

I hope you enjoy this video, and I hope to do some myself in the coming year.

It’s still weird seeing myself posted on the internets, but I quite agree that Joe is a good pirate who definitely gets it, and is a delightful interviewer. :)

My personal kudos, too, for spreading the word on doing community well. To a large degree, we’re still a missionary sell.
