A Sad Farewell to The BlogWorld/New Media Expo Community

To the Wonderful NMX/BlogWorld Community,

It’s with a very heavy heart that I tell you today is my last day as Director of Community for New Media Expo.   Though I’m exiting my role on the best of terms, the decision to move on was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever made on both a personal and professional level.  Through my time as both Conference Director and Community Director, I’ve met the most extraordinary people and it’s so hard for me to say good bye.

As the song goes, I’ve had the time of my life.

I won’t be far. I’ll always be a member of the NMX community, a conference I’m so passionate about I’ve been to every single one. Through my passion, I even managed to somehow to wrangle my way into making the switch from “attendee” to being part of the wonderful NMX team. I’m always around online I’d love to stay connected with you all on Twitter, and of course, here on my blog.

To the NMX team: Rick, Dave, Patti, Alli, Shane, Chris, Dani, Jill, Carrie, Tina, and Megan, I’m always here for you. Thank you, not only for all your help and guidance over the years, but for your friendship. I have the deepest love and respect for you all.

To the NMX community:  You’ve made me think, you’ve made me laugh, you challenged me, and you helped me to learn so much. It’s been such an honor and privilege  to spend time with you all. I’m so grateful for all the time we shared together.

I don’t know what the future holds. I’m taking some time to mull things over and find my groove. I’m going to work on my home, work on my garden, spend time with my family and do a little contract work in between. Eventually I’ll find another community in which to share my passion and learn from, and hopefully you’ll be a part of that too. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my life and hope you’ll join me on my journey.

With much gratitude and love,

Deb Ng

Why did you decide to make the move, Deb? Seems a big loss to NMX and to you if there’s no definitive career path. Would imagine working for NMX would be awesome!

    • http://kommein.com Deb Ng

      Hi Dave,

The decision to leave wasn’t an easy one, but there were several factors all of which are personal to me and NMX. Let’s just say it was time to move on.

My future is bright! I have contract work lined up and I’ve received a variety of huge offers over the past couple of weeks. It’s just important to me to take time to make the right decision.

      Working for NMX is awesome!

Deb, I’m so sorry to see you leaving NMX, and want to thank you for all of your incredible work and dedication to the conference. On a personal level, I am sincerely grateful for all of your assistance, courtesies, support and how you always made me feel so welcome. I hope that our paths will cross again, whether it be at NMX or elsewhere. If there’s ever anything I can do at all to help, please let me know. I wish you the very best of luck on your journey, and hope that you enjoy the path to your next adventure. — Your friend, Lou

I’m sure it was such a difficult decision, but you have to do what is best for you. Sometimes the greatest opportunities come after we make a big leap. I’m glad I’ll still see you around the bloggosphere and at events :)

It was a very difficult decision, Nicole, but a necessary one. I look forward to seeing you at Type A or on FAcebook!

Love to you and the fam for a great Spring full of rewarding new challenges and enjoyment, and at some point, somehow, I have to taste some of Mister Ng’s BBQ you’ve been teasing me with for years, Deb! :D

    Warmly,
    Dave

    • http://kommein.com Deb Ng

Dave, you’re welcome for BBQ any time. Just give us a few hours notice so we can get the smoker going.

    Deb,

I don’t know what to say. I knew this day was coming, but I’m just not ready for it.

Deb, you leave behind a great legacy. You’ve really stepped up and breathed life and vigor into the community that exists outside of the events themselves. I’m sure NMX will miss your talents, and I hope I can speak for everyone who’s a member of the community to say we will miss you as a leader, but continue to enjoy your company as a fellow member. Best of luck in the next phase of your career.
